*POSITION DESCRIPTION*
Business Analysts act as a liaison between the IT department and the larger
Research Development Engineering &Quality organization. They collect,
analyze, review, document, and communicate business needs and requirements
for the project. Based on breadth and depth of understanding of business
needs and processes, they collaborate with Solution Architects to determine
if solutions currently exist (internally or externally) or whether new
solutions are feasible. They take a broad perspective to determine how such
solutions will impact existing work processes and systems, and how to
manage the integration. They also research and facilitate the evaluation of
"buy vs. build" decisions as necessary.
*Principal Responsibilities*
Works with business partners within multiple business functions to align
information technology solutions across interacting business functions.
Able to identify and communicate how IT solutions can assist within the
business functions. This particular assignment involves combining
functionality from large legacy applications into an existing application
which will become global. Gaining agreement on which features need to be
migrated to the global application and which business processes must be
made global, and documenting these are key.
Responsible for leading the elicitation, collection, analysis,
documentation and coordination of business requirements. Responsibilities
include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Works with business function(s) to understand the current and / or proposed
business processes. Documents discussion and agreements. Demonstrates
advanced usage techniques in business process mapping skills.
Work with the business and IT teams to provide technical solutions.
Analyzes business workflows to address business needs.
Assesses business needs utilizing a structured requirements process
(gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to prioritize
immediate business needs and recommend options, risks and cost vs. benefits.
Conducts feasibility studies and drafts proposals for evaluation by
appropriate users and managers. Develops and assists in the preparation of
business cases.
Develops, writes, and communicates business requirements for the design and
implementation of business solutions. Procures technical assistance to help
in problem resolution.
Develops user test cases and reviews test plans to ensure that business
results are adequately tested with minimal risk.
Investigates, resolves and escalates problems.
*Required Experience:*
Ideally 7-10 years of Information Technology experience.
Experience in leading the elicitation, collection, analysis, documentation
and coordination of business requirements.
Requires leadership skills, experience/in-depth knowledge of business
operations and systems requirements processes.
*Other Helpful Experience:*
Business Process re-engineering
Working in an engineering or manufacturing environment
*Education:*
Bachelor's degree in related field, specialized training or equivalent work
experience.
