An early response is really appreciated. *Position: Sr. Data Modeler (DB2)* Location: Mooresville, NC Start Date: Mid Aug for 3-6 months (extendable) Primary Skills: Experienced Data modeler using *DB2, ERWin* · Experience in Product Master Data (Item Management, Product Processes) · PHysical and logical design of the Database for flexible structure for an operational database · Translate the data to a operational data store to distribute to other downstram systems · Ability to challenge the team on the database design · Retail experience nice to have The primary responsibility of the Data Modeler is data standards and procedures, warehousing, design and development of logical and physical data models and databases, distributed data management, information management functions. The Data Modeler develops data models to meet the needs of the organization's information systems and business requirements; communicates with other teams on the development of data models. Responsibilities Develops data models to meet the needs of the organization's information systems Manages the flow of information between departments through the use of relational databases. Maintains data integrity by working to eliminate redundancy. Stays informed of the ways the organization uses its data. Plans for collection method, data cleansing, and normalization of enterprise data to support decision making and reporting. Develops policies and procedures related to development and support of new and ongoing systems to ensure the integrity of data. Coordinates data models, dictionaries, and other database documentation across multiple applications. Works with data transformation teams to ensure that the model design and development is properly communicated Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions. Work with the Application Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models. Create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy. Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects. Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata. Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models. Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments. Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts. Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies. Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness. Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions. Develop data models according to company standards. Guide System Analysts, Engineers, Programmers and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Review modifications to existing software to improve efficiency and performance. Examine new application design and recommend corrections if required.
