We use both web.xml and resin-web.xml for exactly the purpose that you have described.
It has been working well for us.

resin-web.xml is actually only an <resin:import> in app-default.xml.  So you can change its name or location, or have more than one if you like.

Hi,

I have a question about web apps and a resin-web.xml file. Is it possible, to have multiple xml files in the WEB-INF directory ( web.xml and resin-web.xml)? I'd like to have standard web app stuff in the web.xml and resin specific config items in the other (such and quercus and other resin specific config items).

How would that be configured?
