Position:- Cognos Consultant Location:- Jacksonville, FL Duration:- 12 Months + Rate:- $40 Skills:- * Need someone with Data manager, Cognos, decisionStream and informatica. Required:- * Cognos Data Manager, Cognos DecisionStream and Informatica experience required. * Demonstrated proficiency in Oracle database design, tuning, performance management, and troubleshooting required. * Troubleshooting and data flow analysis skills required. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot reporting issues back to the root cause, and then perform corrective actions required. * Demonstrated proficiency in designing data solutions required, including implementing the correct solution for the process, based on the business requirements and technical solutions available. Desired:- * Experience developing data warehouse solutions, and knowledgeable with data warehousing/data mart concepts. * Proficient in developing test plans based on system and validation requirements. * Client facing / consulting skills, such as the ability to work with the business partners to translate business requirements into potentially complex technical solutions that meet or exceed those business needs. * Proficiency in Cognos web-based reporting technologies. * Windows server and scripting proficiency. Description:- * Understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. * Troubleshoot and analyze data to ensure that delivered data and reports are accurate * Analyze and validate documented user requirements and design Cognos and Oracle-based implementation solutions to meet them. * Advise the BI group in all database-related activities, and provide Oracle expertise for the BI group. * Analyze external system change impacts on the complete reporting solution, and design and implement solutions adjust to them. * Participate in Cognos and Oracle software upgrade impact analysis, upgrade planning, and implementation * Review completed development to ensure compliance to design and implementation strategies. * Work with data architects to ensure that the data warehousing solutions support the reporting needs of the business. * Provide technical database solutions based on business requirements. * Design new or additional data movements between transactional and reporting databases, and within reporting databases, using specs modeled on user needs. Be able to translate those user needs to technical requirements. * Support current ETL processes and provide troubleshooting of those processes. * Assist in validating information back to the data source systems and marrying that data to the business requirements. * Provide production monitoring and user support for the reporting systems (world-wide and 24x7). * Use SDLC and BDP methodologies to implement complete reporting solutions, based on the business needs. * Provide input to long-range data warehousing plans and design current processes (ETL thru end-user reporting) to be in alignment with those long- range objectives. * Integrate data from heterogeneous data environments into a single reporting solution, based on business needs. * Provide 24x7 on call support in a rotation as required.
