For instance, there is no justification on that ticket about why, and no discussion of pros and cons. While this is in review, Maybe Philip could start a discussion on user@ explaining why and asking for feedback. Maybe it will come back unanimous after a short amount of time, but I think it's worth a discussion, given how badly this could break workloads of existing users.
