Correction to my comment above: merging this would not have reverted #44. The diff I quoted compared this branch's tree with main, but dev/merge_spark_pr.py squash-merges (`git merge --squash`), which applies only this PR's own changes relative to its merge base. Re-running that merge against current main changes only Cargo.lock.
