    Just did a test with hive, I can declare a parquet file written with spark
as

    {code}
    CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE ptest (id INT, value DECIMAL(30,0))
    STORED AS PARQUET
    LOCATION "file:///home/rtreffer/work/hadoop/parquet";
    {code}

    and it *does* work. I'm now trying to test the opposite direction plus a
test case.
