Hi @abehrens - you may wish want to read the contributing guidelines at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SPARK/Contributing+to+Spark (this
PR is missing a JIRA which probably would have been a good place to discuss if
these functions are needed). You may find the subtract function already does
some of what you want.
