Github user srowen commented on the issue: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/14673 You would also have to check out branch-2.0 and branch from there in order to work off the right base. From there you can cherry-pick your commit from master and resolve conflicts. Then there's nothing extra to do when opening a PR as it's already known to be vs branch-2.0. It's more than just choosing a branch when you open the PR.
