Github user srowen commented on the issue: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/14974 If both versions do exactly the same thing and call a case class constructor, I'd say this change is actually making it less clear. However this will call `Data.apply` right -- which I assume will also just call the constructor in just about any case. Is there ever an advantage to it? there may be. If this is changed it should be done consistently across the code.
