Github user gatorsmile commented on the issue: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/15513 To differentiate literals from expressions, the simplest way is to add `expr` or `expression` into the function name. For the arguments whose names do not contain `expr`, they are treated as literal. I know there are multiple exceptions. For example, the input might be neither expressions nor literals.
