INTERFACCE ANNOUNCEMENT: SHOWCASES 2006 INTRODUCTION to INTERFACCE INTERFACCE is an event organized by the young for the young. Its aim is to become an authentic point of national and international reference within its particular field in accordance with the intentions of its primary promoters: the MIFAV of Tor Vergata University of Rome, the GGI Young Entrepreneurs Group of the Rome Association of Manufacturers, the Youth Policy Department of Rome City Council, and the Economic Development and Production Department of the Province of Rome. INTERFACCE is committed to keeping attention constantly focused on the young, their creative drives, their desire for self-expression through the technologically based languages of the contemporary world, and their capacity to produce culture and innovative know-how. It also strives to stimulate awareness on the part of local authorities, educators, and entrepreneurs as regards the demands expressed by the most dynamic section of society for support aimed at creativity, innovation, and ultimately what the national system requires. INTERFACCE is not an event confined to a particular space and period of time but represents a different way to produce culture through the promotion of project design, the exchange of ideas, an interdisciplinary approach, and innovation. It constitutes an authentic "transition of cultural phase" capable of seamless self-renewal from one edition to the next. With its "continuum" of workshops, forums, showcases, film festivals, and exhibitions, it presents itself as a sphere of reference and model to be emulated with a view to moving beyond the culture of the ephemeral and arriving at a culture of construction based on promoting and developing a simultaneously creative and innovative approach to project design. THE INTERFACCE SHOWCASES Initiated in 1993 with the Fotoesordio section, the Interfacce showcases constitute an important window of visibility and promotion for young people wishing to express themselves and communicate through the technologically based languages of the contemporary world: from photography and Net languages all the way to mediated multimodal and interactive communication. The Interfacce showcases are reserved for young people aged under 36 and are designed to promote authors whose work is the fruit of in-depth personal research of a technological and/or communicative nature with the prerequisite of a clear capacity for project design. There is no enrolment fee for participation.
