ASEFUAN DIALOGUE ON
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND CLIMATE
CHANGE

Call for Participants
ASEFUAN and Casa Asia, in partnership with the
Asia-Europe Foundation, are proud to announce the inaugural ASEFUAN Dialogue on
Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Barcelona
and Madrid. A
total of 70 young experts representing the 43 ASEM process members states will
be invited to attend the event. The project aims at providing space for younger
generations in Asia and Europe to voice their
opinions on what model of development should be pursued in the coming decades.
The application process will be open until the 4th of
October 2009. Selected applicants will be notified during the first week of
October. Those wishing to apply should fulfil the following requirements: 
        * Be a senior undergraduate student or graduate student or young 
professional in any of the following fields: Urban Planning, Economics, 
Engineering, Political Science, Social Sciences, Forestry, Agricultural 
Studies, Environmental Studies or Development Studies.
        * Have above-average academic records.
        * Be under the age of 35.
        * Be proficient in English.
        * Have a demonstrated record of scholarship and leadership in their 
discipline.
        * Show high involvement in projects related to Sustainable Development, 
Climate Change and Environmental Issues.
        * Be national of an ASEM country.*
Those invited to attend will be asked to get involved
in pre-conference discussions using tools provided by the organisers such as
blogs and online fora. During the event organisers will expect an active
involvement of participants at workshops and lectures.
The organisers will provide participants with
accommodation for the entire duration of the event. The transfer from Barcelona 
to Madrid
will also be covered by the organisers. ASEFUAN and Casa Asia will make
available some travel subsidies. A maximum of 250 EUR can be claimed by 
participants. Please note that NOT ALL requests will be able to be fulfilled
due to budgetary restrictions.
