re-new 2010 Digital Arts Festival
May 18-22 2010 - Copenhagen/DK

presenting cutting-edge digital art from all over the world at the
annual re-new digital arts festival - hosting concerts, installations
and multimedia performances at Huset i Magstrade in down-town
Copenhagen, - hosting a workshop in Max for Live on May 22-23 as part
of re-new 2010. We will have top tutors from Ableton and Cycling74,
names to be revealed soon!

Finally, we organise the three-day international seminar “Mixed
Emotions” that will deal with the use and exploration of human and
synthetic emotion in digital design, software and art. Lecturers and
presenters will be internationally reknowned designers and researchers
from business and academia.

At re-new we focus on the actual, practical, and artistic usages that
people make of the latest technological novelties and scientific
ponderings. In doing so we encompasses a wide range of multimedia
related art forms, where digital technologies are an unseparable part.
Digital Art is no longer an avantgarde field, but has become an
integral part of our present-day Digital Culture.

re-new therefore sees media technologies as socio-cultural techniques
and embrace them in order to comprehend, comment, and contribute to
the shaping of contemporary society. We seek out artistic practices
that not only respond to scientific or technical developments, but
that try to influence

re-new invites artists, performers, and composers to present the
newest groundbreaking works of digital music, video, installations,
distributed and collaborative art, as well as any other art-form with
a signficant digital component. Emphasis is on non-traditional genres,
and submissions are accepted in all categories including any not
mentioned here: we are interested in works that challenge or expand
the current vocabulary and practice of digital creation, performance,
and consumption.
re-new has several venues for different performance and presentation
possibilities. We will seek to present the selected works at the best
possible venue, but submittors are welcome to indicate preferred
venue(s).

Performance
This category is if you want to propose a concert or a large part of a
performance for experimental electronic performances at re-new’s club
venues. Performers of all and any style are encouraged. Selected
performers will be given sets of 15-45 minutes, and venues will
accommodate multi-channel sound and video. If your work requires a
quiet atmosphere, then you should consider submitting under the
concert works category.

Concert
This category is for live music to be performed in concert hall or

and electronics, electroacoustic works with a performer, groups of
players, and interfaces of the game type, robots etc. Video is

Experimental video works will be screened at all events, and emphasis
is on future forms of the moving image. Submissions can include
experimental films (including digital music compositions in
two-channel or Dolby 5.1), 2D and 3D animations, linear and non-linear
narrative image sequences, mobile and innovative screen formats,
split- and/or multiple-screen arrangements. Modes of individual and
