Anyone who is interested in applying should feel free to contact me, and I'm happy to spend some time going through "a day in the life of a draft", the RFCs involved, some gotchas, or anything else.  Even if you don't want to apply *now* but might want to apply *later*, I'm always available, and will be at Montreal to answer any questions in person.

The Internet Architecture Board (IAB) is responsible for overseeing the
volunteer Independent Submissions Editor (ISE) position. The IAB sends a call
for candidates for this position every two years. The current appointee is
Eliot Lear[1], whose term is up for renewal in February 2026. Eliot has
indicated that he is interested in serving another term.

The IAB (with help from the other RFC streams) is identifying potential
candidates for this role, with the intent to gather community feedback and make
an appointment by early next year. Suggestions for candidates are welcome
[email protected].

The requirements and responsibilities for the role are documented in RFC 8730,
"Independent Submission Editor Model"[2]. Eliot has indicated that the current
workload varies based on when documents are ready to advance, but has been averaging
about 3-4 hours per week.

For the IAB,
Cindy Morgan
IAB Executive Administrative Manager
