It's fully redundant, uses that redundancy to balance the load, and should be able to scale amazingly well since glusterfs would easily allow to add nodes to increase performance or migrate client access to concatenated nodes to increase storage size. Note that I haven't tested this in production yet, so comments and suggestions are more than welcome.
