Hi all,
RedHat recentlly announce support to kvm under RHEL
(http://www.redhat.com/about/news/prarchive/2008/virtualization.html).
My question is:
- Exist some roadmap about when kvm will be present on RHEL5.x??
- When redhat will be release beta/test kvm packages?
- Will be RHEL4.x a supported host system??
Mnay thanks.
Please any news?? I think that this RedHat announce needs to explain
more details ...
Any info??
Speaking purely as a casual observer, with my Red Hat hat off, that
announcement is about oVirt, which is NOT the same thing as RHEL. I'd
suggest visiting ovirt.org to find out more about oVirt. The announcement
says oVirt is kvm-based, it doesn't say anything about kvm coming to RHEL
(nor does it say it isn't).
Thanks jarod, but all is really confused almost for me. What does it means
this announce??
That Red Hat has a new kvm-based virtualization offering called oVirt. :)
Xen will be fully supported over all rhel 5.x branch and
adding new features?? Or will be kvm??
Since xen was in RHEL5.0, xen will be fully supported until RHEL5.x goes
end-of-life. I'm not privy to any information with respect to kvm showing up
in RHEL5 or not (and probably couldn't talk about them if I was --
forward-looking statements and all that).
I know that ovirt is a fedora based management tool to
control/provisioning, etc virtual machines, but under RedHat Summit on
Boston, some Redhat's people says that kvm will be integrated on rhel5.x
branch ...
Assuming said people were speaking in an official capacity, they probably know
better than I do what the plans are. Xen is definitely here to stay in
RHEL5.x, but that certainly doesn't mean kvm couldn't also show up in RHEL5.x
at some point.
Thanks Jarod.
