I usually use the dvd iso image mounted via nfs
# mount -o loop /iso/rhel-5-server-i386-dvd.iso /mnt/nfs

/etc/exportfs:
/mnt/nfs    192.168.0.1/24(ro)

# service nfs restart

what you have here is the installation tree exported via nfs.
