Can you try logging in from your laptop in the office?  Are you using keys for 
authentication or passwords? To me it sounds like you may be requiring a key to 
login which you may not have on your laptop.  You can also check 
/etc/security/access.conf to see if you are only allowed to login from certain 
addresses.
