I think that these errors in messages are generated by smartd but i did not configure smartd to monitor hda. that is why I asked about error in messages and smartd

What exactly are you asking? Your subject says "smartd", but you seem to be asking about
/var/log/messages entries from "kernel". Those messages are not from smartd...

The kernel messages are common with cd/dvd drives, and I'm not sure there is
anything you can do to avoid them.

Also, why do you have your dvd/cd drive configured for smartd, whose purpose is to detect disk failure?
Thanks,

Kevin

Subject: [rhelv5-list] smartd : error in messages

Hello,
My servers are using CCISS drive. The dvd/cd player is the only ATA device.
On the smartd.conf

I comment
DEVICESCAN -H -m root
and had :
/dev/cciss/c0d0 -a -d cciss,0 -s (S/../.././01|L/../../7/06) -m root
/dev/cciss/c0d0 -a -d cciss,1 -s (S/../.././01|L/../../7/06) -m root

but still receiving a lot of :
Jun 10 10:07:03 cluster01-node2 kernel: hda: drive_cmd: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Jun 10 10:07:03 cluster01-node2 kernel: hda: drive_cmd: error=0x04 { AbortedCommand }
Jun 10 10:07:03 cluster01-node2 kernel: ide: failed opcode was: 0xec

It is hard to sort real error from these.

Is it a config setting or a bug ?

Regards
