Hi list,

I am running into this strange sudo problem on a RH5.3 machine.
I've added a user to the wheel group to give him admin rights. However, it
appears that nothing has changed. The user, for example, can't do a visudo,
nor reboot the machine, to name a few.
The wheel group is active in the sudoers file:

%wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL

And the user is added to the wheel group in /etc/group.

So, I've tried giving the user root rights via the line

prvadm ALL=(ALL) ALL

But that doesn't work either.

So, I've tried to give the user rights to do yum updates (SOFTWARE).
Again, no effect.

I don't see any log message in either /var/log/secure nor in
/var/log/messages.

Am I overlooking something ??
I hope anyone can shed a light on this.

cheers,
Andy
