Will,

As others have said, the specific content can not be disclosed. However, you
need to make sure you know the installation and configuration of commonly used
services inside and out. I don't think it is a secret that you will have to be
able to setup, configure, and troubleshoot. Make sure you are familiar with
the boot and recovery process. Security that is used such as selinux and the
firewall can not be ignored. Also, make sure you are familiar with setting up
virtual machines. In general, there is plenty of time to complete the test if
you are familiar with Red Hat Linux. There is a little time for looking up
things and trial and error, but not much. Know where the configuration files.
A majority of people who take the test fail on the first try.

Regards,

Subject: [rhelv5-list] Sitting for the RHCE Exam

I'll be sitting for the RHCE exam late next week. I'm hoping the community can
offer some advice on what to do and/or not do in final preparation for the exam
and on exam day.

I've been a unix/Linux user for many years as well as a system adminstrator on
non-unix/Linux systems. However, I've only had systems admin responsibilities
for RHEL for a few months. I have recently graduated from a Red Hat Academy
course which did not offer the exam. That all gives me some readiness for the
exam, but it is far from automatic that I would pass.

I'd very much welcome any insights, suggestions, gotchas, etc from those of you
who have taken the exam.

Thanks in advance.
