On a few (but by no means all) of my RHEL5.4 boxes I see this when I run "yum update" these days:

[r...@server ~]# yum update
Loaded plugins: downloadonly, rhnplugin, security
/usr/lib/python2.4/xmllib.py:9: DeprecationWarning: The xmllib module is
obsolete. Use xml.sax instead.
warnings.warn("The xmllib module is obsolete. Use xml.sax instead.",
DeprecationWarning)
[continues as normal]

I've tried uninstalling yum-downloadonly and even tried installing it on other machines to create the issue but that doesn't seem to be what's doing it.

The warning is plainly visible in /usr/lib/python2.4/xmllib.py on line 9 but I have no idea why it's being triggered on these machines. Do the yum commands on machines not exhibiting this behaviour not use xmllib.py?

Can anyone shed any light on what's going on?
