Unless you're running an application that requires LSB compliance I
can't imagine that it's needed for anything.  Basically it consist of a
bunch of dependencies, and a few scripts and symbolic links to make
things behave in an LSB 3.1 way for any application that's been
certified as LSB 3.1 compliant.

I certainly don't install it on any of my servers, at least not
intentionally.
