I'm trying to debug a severe slowness problem between a vinagre client
on F12/13 connecting to RHEL55 on a local LAN. As soon as I make the
connection, the load factor on my quad-core Opteron server zooms from a
resting 0.10 - 0.18 to over 0.8 or higher. Everything bogs down: mouse
movement is ragged, screen refreshes are painfully slow, switching tabs
in Firefox takes several seconds to complete (slow screen repaint), and
switching consoles is similarly slow. This behavior continues until I
shut down or kill the vinagre process on the laptop. Assuming the
problem is some kind of race condition induced on the server, can anyone
suggest how to set up and capture an RHEL5 strace session?
