FWIW we quickly ran into this bug during our tests: Bug 572930 - Bad ext4 sync performance on 16 TB GPT partition https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=572930 (With hindsight the bug title is a little bit misleading but the issue is real.)
