I think you misunderstood; on my Tru64 system, "sync" and "gopher" are regular user accounts (belonging to a couple of paying customers). I need to delete the Linux default system accounts so I can create regular user accounts (different groups, much higher UIDs, etc.). I find it odd that there are still legacy-named accounts, especially those that AFAIK aren't actually usable.
