I am surprised to hear that RHEL 5.6 (beta) is to include PHP 5.3. While I
welcome the change to a newer PHP-5.2+ environment, I find this to be uncommon
for Red Hat. PHP 5.3 is in the beta of RHEL 6 as well, which is where I would
expect to find it. I hope that this does not break any compatibility for PHP
applications that currently run on PHP 5.1.6 that is currently distributed with
RHEL 5.5.

Looking at the package name (php53 rather than php), I'd say that PHP-5.3 will be installable along-side the current version of PHP, not replacing it.
