Unfortunately our hands are tied with what we got and we only need a temporary 
solution for a month or two.

Sounds like you need a block-level solution like NetApp's SnapMirror.  I 
don't think trying to synchronize this data from the OS layer is going 
to be a very elegant or efficient solution.
