No reason at all to boot from DVD or do a complete reinstall. Yum will do what you want, to either the latest update to RHEL 5, or you can use local media for updating to a specific update of RHEL. https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-9935 and possibly the link in that article to "How do I setup a yum or up2date repository to use a locally mounted DVD with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5?" https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-16303 and possibly the link that article to "How do I configure the yum local repository to be able to access a DVD ISO via HTTP?" Why wouldn't you go to the latest update of RHEL? There are *tons* of fixes and performance updates between RHEL 5.2 and the latest, 5.7. Kernel API and ABI compatibility is maintained for the whole 5.x family, so if your app runs on 5.2 it should run just fine on 5.7 (probably better, there really have been some significant performance improvements since 5.2). - -- Thomas Cameron, RHCA, RHCSS, RHCDS, RHCVA, RHCX, CNE, MCSE, MCT Managing Solutions Architect 512-241-0774 office 512-585-5631 cell 512-857-1345 fax http://people.redhat.com/tcameron -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.14 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Red Hat - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk4xjr4ACgkQmzle50YHwaDeoACfTIg3cO1FuHlHhlOqgARpyVl1 YwMAoKBLxOtt6k1Euy7KnRcRdP+nxwYy =T7rK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ rhelv5-list mailing list [email protected] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv5-list
