We had massive problems in the past, when we were forced by HP to
upgrade the NIC firmware on a DL580 G7 running RHEL 5.6
netxen driver wasn't able to set speed/duplex and so we had to upgrade
to RHEL 5.7 to make things work again.
We then also noticed performance issues (the problem we have is also
that the current network only supports 100 MB/s full duplex)
I'm still not sure if it's really just a problem with the driver or if
also the firmware is causing problems.
I've tried to get someone from HP looking into the issue - but so far
without luck (maybe you'll have more luck).
I'd therefore suggest to install the NIC driver from HP (provided in
ProLiant Support Pack) and also upgrade the firmware to the latest
available version
-> If you do so, please let me know if the installation of PSP
was working as expected since I had lots of trouble
Cheers,
Simon
