I'm not Red Hat security or support but I do have a comment: if you cherry pick your patches you can come unstuck. For example, there was an update for bash a while ago which a later version of mkinitrd implicitly depended on: one could argue that mkinitrd should have an explicit dependency on the required version of bash but the testing overhead to ensure all of those things are caught is enormous (and quite possibly not even possible). I don't think that that particular case is relevant for 5.5 to 5.7 but it is something you will have to be very careful about. Errata always tell you to apply all previous errata first. jch
