So I keep several of my systems current, and have had minimal issues.
One is a build server, and so is not always a great example, the other
one runs all kinds of web apps along with both mysql and postgres. We
run on HP hardware.

In general I've seen more issues not staying up with minor releases
and having to catch up than with staying current, such as tzdata
changing from noarch to arch specific at one point during the rhel
release cycle.

however, we also have jumped from 5.3 -> 5.5 and are starting work on
our 5.5 -> 5.7 for those systems which don't just stay current. So
far nothing has been found negative in our testing.
