RH supported, but if you use these other tools to create a ext file system, 
you're able to go beyond this limit :

$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/fs/ext2/e2fsprogs.git
"This is the new version (1.42.3) of the second extended file system management 
programs"

We've a 100TB ext4 file system running under RH EL 5.8 on a HPC server and has 
proven to be stable and fast.
But lets say on a Oracle database server I guess we also would stay on the safe 
side.
