I'm currently testing RHEL6 on ESX 3.5. RHEL6 now uses dracut instead of mkinitrd to create initrd files and the only vmware tools version I could find that would detect this and use dracut was the most recent one I could find via google:
VMwareTools-4.0.0-261974.tar.gz This version installs successfully on RHEL6 and seems to work fine with ESX 3.5 (so far). One thing, after the install you should add a ".conf" extension to the end of /etc/modprobe.d/vmware-tools to get rid of the warning at boot time. All files in /etc/modprobe.d/ need a ".conf" extension now. Cheers, Tim. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Eugene Vilensky Sent: Thursday, 25 November 2010 2:27 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [rhelv6-list] rhel6 on esx 3.5 Is anyone running RHEL6 under esx 3.5 (update 5)? Any gotchas or issues? The only vmtools I've seen mentioned for RHEL6 are for 4.1+. _______________________________________________ rhelv6-list mailing list [email protected] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv6-list This e-mail is sent by Suncorp-Metway Limited ABN 66 010 831 722 or one of its related entities "Suncorp".
