What is the reason for the hard links for all the ifcfg-INTERFACE files
between /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices and
/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default? Is this just historic?
I've seen various programs and scripts that only update
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and things seem to work fine. In fact I
believe the latest redhat changes to support interface/bridge
configuration in virt-manager do exactly this. Is it safe to ignore
the other two directories? Updating all 3 is a bit inconvenient to
users of editors like emacs that don't rewrite changes to the same inode.

Thanks,
Nataraj
