Hi all,

I have installed a windows 7 sp1 guest under a rhel6 kvm host. I am
trying to pass to this guest an usb printer without luck.

My guest.xml is:

<hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='yes'>
<source>
<vendor id='0x03f0'/>
<product id='0x5611'/>
<address bus='2' device='3'/>
</source>
<alias name='hostdev0'/>
</hostdev>
<hostdev mode='subsystem' type='usb' managed='yes'>
<source>
<vendor id='0x05ac'/>
<product id='0x1265'/>
<address bus='2' device='4'/>
</source>
<alias name='hostdev1'/>
</hostdev>

and I have removed usb_storage and uslp modules with rmmod, but
guest
can't see this usb printer yet. Do I need to do something else??

Thanks.

More info. When guest starts, returns this error:

husb: open device 1.2
/dev/bus/usb/001/002: Operation not permitted

   Do I need to change something??

Carlo(?),

USB pass-through should work.

Things to note:
1. Make sure that a driver (module) is not attaching to the device in
the host OS, blacklist it if possible.
2. Only USB 1.1/1.0 devices are supported. If you have a pure USB 2.0
device, it is not going to work.

You could try passing up the whole PCI USB device, but I have had little
success.

Thanks Greg. Then my problem is with usb 2.0. Exists some roadmap from redhat/fedora about when will be implemented this option??
