Hi Hugh,

Well then I wonder if I should file a bug against that GDM since I
already had something similar on my test RHEL6.1 system:

[root@rh6x64 xsessions]# pwd
/usr/share/xsessions

[root@rh6x64 xsessions]# cat OpenWindows.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Type=XSession
Exec=/usr/openwin/bin/openwin
TryExec=/usr/openwin/bin/openwin
Name=OpenWindows
Comment=The OpenWindows Desktop

But anyway I didn't see any place in the GDM greeter where to pick a
different session that the default..

Does the gdm user have read access to the file? It's also possible that update-desktop-database may have to be run (though I don't know if it touches the desktop files in that directory).

Hugh
