The cover art is downloaded from Amazon - I think there is a setting for which country (in your case, amazon.de should work better), and should technically only be stored for 30 days (I think). You can't upload images to Amazon. See also http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346852 (open) What you can do, if you have the cover images, is copy them on your hard drive to the folders where the music tracks are, and call them cover.jpg or album.jpg (or something based on the album/track name).
