Hello. First of all, I am French, so there can be lots of English mistakes in my message. I hope you will nevertheless be able to understand it ^^
I has been using Rhythmbox for one year (since I have installed Ubuntu). I never found any better music player on Linux, Windows or Mac OS. I would like to congratulate you for making such a great free software. My problem is that I listen first of all classical music, and rhythmbox's library is not optimized for classical music. It's nevertheless the best I know, but I think it can be better, that's why I'm writing you this mail. First, when you listen to classical music, you like to sort it by Genre → Composer → Album, because the composer is more important that the artist. It would be so great, that Rhythmbox manage this filing ! I have an other suggestion, but I think that it would be much more difficult to realize it. In many classical music albums, Several works are recorded. For example, in one CD, you can have : Mozart, 40th symphony : 1. Molto Allegro 2. Andante 3. Menuetto 4. Allegro Assai Mozart, 41st symphony : 5. Allegro vivace 6. Andante cantabile 7. Menuetto 8. Finale Tchaikovsky : Romeo and Juliet 9. Fantasy Overture In this album, there are 3 different works recorded. If you keeps only the name of the sequence, "allegro vivace", it deosn't mean anything. If you type, in each sequence, "allegro vivace (Mozart, 41st symphony)", it becomes too heavy. And you can't make 3 different albums, it would be ridiculous and the library would contain hundreds of albums very fastly. I think that the only solution is to make "sub-albums", "group of sequences" or "work" : you can type, for each sequence, the sub-album at which it belongs. In rhythmbox, when you select the album, it is displayed like I showed you upper, with titles between sequences. I'm not a specialist at all. Maybe, this fuction needs to change the file structure, then I didn't write to the good person. Thank you for havin read this mail.
