Brian, the problem here is that Chart implements server-side handlers,
as a response to the listener, you want to do something (e.g. re-render part of
the page).

In fact, the component supports those attributes as of now:

The ExtendedPartialViewContextImpl collects Ajax-attributes from Activator
component (component that activated the request) without asking whether
component implements AjaxProps. (Note that this may also be a bug)
