On Friday, Rush Limbaugh compared Obama’s DNC speech with a 30-year-old Jimmy
Carter speech, one line at a time.  This similarity was remarkable. Not word
for word, but almost. Rush concluded that it’s the same old stuff from the
Democrat playbook.

Well, after hearing it, I think it was even more than that. My best guess is
his speech writers were having a hard time listing the accomplishments of his
Administration. And we know speech writers often research old speeches to see
what works and does not.

Adding 2 and 2, my guess is his speech writer took the Carter speech and
rewrote to fit Obama’s style, not word for word, but idea to idea – and Obama
dutifully read it from the teleprompter not kowing it was an infringement of a
predecessor. His speech writer probably never thought anyone except Carter, and
maybe not even him at age 88, would draw the connection. Well, he could be
right, only Rush’s terriffic memory exposed the fact that Obama has a lazy
speech writer who didn’t think he’d get caught.

A copyright is a legal device that gives the creator of a literary, artistic,
musical, or other creative work the sole right to publish and sell that work.
Copyright owners have the right to control the reproduction of their work,
including the right to receive payment for that reproduction. An author may
grant or sell those rights to others, including publishers or recording
companies. Violation of a copyright is called infringement.

"A gang is a group of men under the command of a leader, bound by a compact of
association, in which the plunder is divided according to an agreed convention.
If this villainy wins so many recruits from the ranks of the demoralized that
it acquires territory, establishes a base, captures cities and subdues peoples,
it then openly arrogates to itself the title of `kingdom,’ which is conferred
on it in the eyes of the world, not by the renouncing of aggression but by the
attainment of impunity."
St. Augustine in The City of God
