Kelly Canon has invited you to the event 'LSTP/ Arlington Tea Party General Mtg, Thursday June 13' on Lone Star Tea Party! Check out "LSTP/Arlington Tea Party General Mtg, Thursday June 13" on Lone Star Tea Party Kelly Canon Time: June 13, 2013 from 6:30pm to 9pm Location: Odis Pharr Community Center Organized By: Kelly Canon, Georgia Stapleton, Mel Moss Event Description: Our upcoming meeting will be held Thursday, June 13th, and we are finally on our "regular" schedule of 'every 2nd Thursday' of each month! (yay!) So go ahead and pencil the rest of the year on your calendars! We'll have a few very important turn of events to announce, concerning the IRS "targeting" of conservative groups. You won't want to miss this! We'll also have candidates who have already stepped up to the plate to run for State Senate (District 10), and finally retire the democrat (Wendy Davis) who has caused so much grief the last couple of years, with the redistricting nightmare of 2012, among other liberal attacks on our state! Conservative candidates Konni Burton, Mark Skinner, and Mark Shelton will be joining us to introduce themselves, and tell us why they're running for SD10. (Later in the year, we'll be looking to having a more formal candidate "forum", but for now we just want to get to know the candidates!) As always, we will start gathering at 6:30, for a casual 'meet & greet', and the meeting starting at 7pm. This will be another 'don't miss' meeting! Hope to see you all there! Heritage Action put our money where our mouth is and launched $50,000 worth of radio ads in the districts of four members of the House Agriculture Committee: Rep. Mike McIntyre (D), Rep. Frank Lucas (R), Rep. Martha Roby (R) and Rep. Rick Crawford (R). The ads accuse members of “putting a tuxedo on a pig” by “bankrolling President Obama’s food stamp agenda” under the guise of a farm bill. Heritage Action is serious about divorcing the food stamp program, which comprises nearly 80% of the bill, from the farm bill. Inside the BeltwayWith Congress in recess, Heritage Action is working on overdrive to keep House Republicans’ opposition strong on the Internet Sales Tax. Thursday, our lobbying team reinforced our resistance to the Internet Sales Tax with a briefing attended by over 80 House staffers and notable members of the press. By emphasizing the burdens caused by the bill, Heritage Action challenged attendees to ask their bosses if they could call themselves conservatives if they voted in favor of the bill, switching the tone of this ongoing debate. Outside the BeltwayHeritage Action launched a new series titled “Sentinel Stories”. Posted on our blog, The Forge, these stories will highlight conservative activists and combat the liberal media’s unfair and harsh treatment of conservative across the county. We believe it is important to know that this army is composed of patriots like Octavio Sanchez, who lawfully immigrated to the United States for a shot at the American Dream. Read Octavio’s full story on The Forge.
