Interesting Items 6/17 - Howdy all, a few Interesting Items for your information. Enjoy – In this issue: 1. OFA 2. Warming? 3. Sue and Settle 4. Genetics 5. Snowden 1. OFA. So the problem appears to be that Obama’s campaign organization Organizing for America (OFA) maintains a database of friends and enemies. This database is used to micro target both supporters and opponents. Supporters are discretely identified and turned out for elections. Voting by opponents is suppressed by feeding them a variety of stories “proving” that the conservative candidate at a national level is not sufficiently conservative to warrant support of conservative voters. Maxine Waters (D, CA) in one of her few lucid moments let the cat out of the bag, bragging about the existence of the database last February. We know from the IRS harassment of TEA Party, Jewish and Christian groups that the IRS was gathering information on donors to those groups. We know the IRS routinely leaks confidential tax return data to left wing groups. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that information also feeds into the OFA database. Add to this the 60 million medical records seized by the IRS in CA a few months ago. Add to this the EPA which has leaked information on over 80,000 farmers to anti-farming green groups. Finally, include NSA and PRISM phone intercepts and you have a lot of data to maintain, periodically refresh, query and use. As OFA is a continuous campaign, the querying and updating of the database is a full time operation. Given the sheer size of the information kept, I would expect the database itself to not be widely replicated, that is only a few copies should exist. The products of that database – essentially SQL queries that are turned into reports - are much smaller, and transmitted to campaigns at the state and local levels. Given the top-down worldview of the left and the smart guys maintaining this monstrosity, I would expect queries and reports to be run from a central location. Interesting thing about databases is that they are only as good as the data in them. Garbage up the data for whatever reason, and the database itself becomes less than useful, perhaps even counterproductive. The guys who put this thing together, people from Facebook and Google, are expert at gathering, maintaining, and using this sort of database. But make no mistake about it, care and feeding of such a database is a full time job for some very smart, very committed people. So what do we on the right do about this? What sorts of options do we have in opposition? Better yet, what can be done to a database to make it inoperable? A database can be hacked, not unlike what was done to the Iranian nuclear weapons program via Stuxnet. There are Stuxnet variants running the wild out there and there are people in the Black Hat world dinking with them. Infect the database with a worm that will corrupt its structure and scramble tables, and you have gone a long way toward rendering it ineffective. Of course, if the Smart Guys who built the database are as smart as I think they are, there will be backups of backups, and offsite storage of those backups. Sufficiently corrupt the database and the owners will restore the database from backup, so someone will have to find the backups and do something about them also. A second technique would be to identify the database administrators and get one of them to corrupt the database and backups. A third technique would be to identify the location of the datacenter holding this monstrosity and cut its power. OFA ought not to be allowed to operate with impunity. Time to treat them like they are treating conservatives here in the US. Here is Maxine “The Mouth” Waters (D, CA) spilling the beans on Obama’s database: http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2013/06/09/Breitbart-Flashback-Maxine-Waters-Reveals-Obams-Secret-Data-Base-Filled-With-Voters-Private-Info 2. Warming. Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle and Michael Flynn wrote a book entitled “Fallen Angels” some 22 years ago about a dystopian future when the government had been taken over by an anti-technology majority of greens and religious voters. They cleaned the environment right up and in doing so, triggered the next great ice age, complete with ice marching across the northern states. What is really happening is that there has been no measurable global temperature increase in over 17 years, completely decoupling the effects of increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from temperature. When carbon dioxide is no longer coupled to temperature increases, the entire house of cards that is manmade global warming due to carbon dioxide emissions falls apart. We are in the midst of a very weak solar cycle 24, something that has not been seen in over a century. If the next cycle is as weak or weaker, we are in for a very cold next couple of decades. It is the sun. It has always been the sun. But the manmade global warming industry, largely government funded, never gives up, never surrenders. Last week I saw a pair of competing articles. The first was on Watts Up With That, the best web site on the climate wars. They ran an article by Lord Christopher Monckton of Benchley documents the decoupling of temperature increases with carbon dioxide increases. On the other hand, the Big Wheel at government funded manmade global warming continues to spin on unimpeded by reality with a NASA article about the “Sleeping Climate Giant Stirring in the Arctic.” The article scaremongers melting permafrost in the arctic due to manmade global warming. My money is on Monckton, as his results are verifiable. NASA on the other hand, not so much. Read them at the links to follow:

He was the EPA regional administrator caught on video expressing admiration for the quaint old Roman tradition of crucifying a number of people in each town they captured just so the residents would know who was in charge. Only in this case, it would be the EPA doing the crucifixions and businesses the targets. Armendariaz was part of the revolving door between Big Green and the EPA, where activists on a variety of issues end up in the EPA and when in positions of power, sign consent agreements between the EPA and Big Green giving Big Green everything they want. In this case, Armendariaz was the point man for regional haze issues for WildEarth Guardians (WEG). WEG along with nine other green groups sued the EPA in 2009 claiming that the EPA had missed deadlines associated with writing new standards. But the EPA was not in charge of writing those standards; the states are. Armendariaz gets appointed as the EPA’s Region 6 Administrator and the EPA signs a consent decree in federal court less than a week after his appointment. The consent agreement steals the power to write those new standards from the states and returns it to the greens infesting the EPA who are busily crafting new restrictions on dust, particulates, and other naturally occurring thing in the atmosphere. I would say that the EPA is ripe for a series of RICO lawsuits. I would say that Big Green is in play also. Given the size, scope and intrusiveness of Big Green and its incestuous relationship with the EPA, I am starting to wonder if any of those organizations could exist in their current form without federal dollars – grants and other contracts – from the EPA. Taxpayers are funding the very people busily destroying the economy. And if taxpayers can fund Big Green, that stream of money can also be turned off. After his video about crucifying businesses was released, Armendariaz resigned his position from the EPA and returned to Big Green, with a position at the Sierra Club. http://washingtonexaminer.com/what-happens-in-the-backroom-of-a-sue-and-settle-lawsuit/article/2531305 4. Genetics. The SCOTUS handed down a positive opinion last week in the case of Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics finding that companies cannot patent naturally occurring genetic materials. This is a big deal due to the absolute mess that congress has made of the patent system over the last several decades. In the field of molecular genetics, companies were patenting actual genetic materials found in human genetics, essentially using the patent system to confer ownership over the very genetic materials that make us what we are at the cellular level. The opinion was unanimous. The opinion did allow companies to patent genetic materials in which they inserted artificial genes into naturally occurring materials. This will allow the rapidly accelerating field of medical technology to continue right up to the point where rules, regulations and taxes due to ObamaCare stops it cold. 5. Snowden. NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden’s story started to unravel a bit last week, as some of the MilBlogs started to pick at it. It turns out that his salary was not nearly as high as he claimed. He also ends up being a Ron Paul supporter, at least monetarily, who did not take that information to LaupNor himself for release. I don’t know that any of this matters or in any way mitigates the problem of massive indiscriminate surveillance and the abject refusal of Washington to identify the real enemy as Saudi-funded Wahhabi Sunni and Iranian-backed Shia. I still worry that this leak, coming via hard core leftist Glenn Greenwald, is intended to be yet another “squirrel” intended to distract us all from the problem posed by Obama’s use of the IRS against his political enemies. More later - - AG "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams, speech at the Philadelphia State House, August 1, 1776.
