Interesting Items 7/15 -

Howdy all, a few Interesting Items for your information. Enjoy –

In this issue:

1.  Zimmerman
2.  Organizing
3.  Train Crash
4.  Adoption
5.  Burglary
6.  Salt
7.  Encyclical

1.  Zimmerman.  “White Hispanic” George Zimmerman was acquitted on the
charge of second degree murder by a six-woman Florida jury Saturday.
Deliberations took less than 16 hours.  The charges and trial were the
closest we here in the US have seen to an old fashioned Stalinist show
trial in many decades.  There was prosecutorial misconduct as the State
of Florida withheld the contents of Travon Martin’s cell phone until a
whistle blower in the state prosecutor’s office IT department notified
the defense team of the contents in May.  The whistleblower was fired
the morning the case went to jury.  The judge, seemingly taking the side of the
prosecution did not allow the evidence on the phone to be
introduced to the jury.  Note that the phone had a large number of
photos, texts, and phone calls recorded.  All of the recipients could
(should) have been deposed by the defense (and the prosecution also, for that
matter) and their testimony introduced in as evidence.  Apparently the State
did not believe that would help their case so they hid the
phone and its contents.  This is malfeasance breathtaking in scope from
the prosecution and in a sane world would lead to disbarment proceedings
against the entire prosecution team.  This case should never have been
brought.  The investigators that were brought to court all ended up
corroborating Zimmerman’s story.  All supported his version of the
shooting.  Note that the state had the Sanford Police Chief and lead
investigator fired for refusing to bring charges against Zimmerman.
Following the verdict, blacks rioted in Oakland and there was some
violence in LA.  Other than a lot of mouths running in the racial
grievance industry, things were a lot quieter than I expected them to
be.  I for one have about had it with the democrat led racial grievance
industry and have had a belly full of listening to complaints about
racism from people whose very paychecks depends of making sure as much
of it exists as humanly possible.  If I were a truly evil b@$tard, I
would start running a series of Spanish language ads on TV, radio and
print media in the barrio, describing in graphic detail what the racial
lynch mob is doing to Zimmerman and his family and then blame it all on
Obama, his black-led (In)Justice Department, and suggest that the way to shut
it down would be to never vote for another democrat again.  And
run the ads for the next couple of decades.  If the racialists infesting this
administration want a fight, perhaps it is time to oblige them
with one.  Note that Zimmerman’s ride through the (In)Justice system is
not finished yet, as Holder and the boys are looking into civil rights
charges against him.  The FBI investigated but was not able to find
any.  There will also be a civil suit against him brought by Martin’s
family, who hooked up with a law firm that traffics in race-based
lawsuits.  The depositions in that one should be very interesting,
especially taking a look into Martin’s cell phone contents.  If the
family of the deceased allows themselves to get goaded into a race-based
wrongful death jihad, they will not like where it will end up .

2.  Organizing.  It turns out that Holder’s (In)Justice Department was
behind organizing protests in Sanford Florida that pressured the State
of Florida to bring this case against Zimmerman.  A little-known
organization in DoJ called the Community Relations Service spent public
money organizing protests against local law enforcement when they
initially refused to bring charges against Zimmerman.  Judicial Watch
discovered the public funding via FOIA requests.  The Obama
administration needed to whip up racial tensions in the lead-in to the
2012 election to ensure a high turnout by the black community.  With
this verdict, it appears they are going to try and do it again in 2014.

3.  Train Crash.  Last week had a train crash in Quebec with a runaway
freight train carrying tank cars full of oil on its way to a refinery
derailed, crashed and burned.  Five dead and over 2,000 people evacuated from
their homes due to smoke, fire, fumes and associated danger.
Apparently the train was parked on a hill; brakes failed; and it ran
away, derailing at the end of its run.  Not a particularly dangerous
event in terms of numbers of dead people, and a pretty large mess.  But
it is significant in light of the Obama administration’s lollygagging on a
decision to build the Keystone II pipeline.  The significance is that over the
last decade or so, a significant amount of transport of newly
produced oil has shifted from highly regulated and extremely safe
pipelines to not nearly as highly regulated rail (which also benefits
one of Obama’s big money donors Warren Buffett).  The greens as usual
have stood up, stomped their collective feet and said no new pipelines –
particularly in parts of the US with the most need of new distribution – and
have promptly forced the new volume of oil onto the rails, making
our and their lives more dangerous.  Congratulations to the religious
left for another hand well played.

4.  Adoption.  A Catholic Church in VA posted a plea for adoptive parents
for a Down’s Syndrome child.  The mother was within days of having to
make a decision to abort the kid or carry it to term.  She did not want
to care for a handicapper.  The situation came to the attention of
clergy at the Church who posted a call for volunteers on their Facebook
page.  Hundreds of couples responded, volunteering to adopt and raise
the child as their own.  An adoption agency had whittled the list down
to three couples as of this writing.  The story demonstrates that there
is a lot more love, grace, hope and love of life out here in Flyover
Country than any of the media or anyone on the left would admit.  Today, due to
the ability to diagnose birth defects in the womb, the vast
majority of Down’s kids are aborted, which is a truly awful outcome.
Congratulations to everyone involved.  The Lord does work in mysterious
ways.  Three groups will know true joy from this one – the Mother, the
adoptive parents, and the people who made it possible.  And we will have
another smiling youngster in our midst.  http://hotair.com/archives/

5.  Burglary.  The office of a Dallas law firm representing a State
Department whistle blower was burgled several times over the course of a single
evening.  Video of the perps had them entering the offices at
least three times over the evening.  They stole three computers and
broke into the file cabinets.  They did not take anything else.  The
whistle blower was a former State Department IG investigator who has
reported allegations of drug use, illicit sexual encounters with adults
and minors, and sexual harassment.  Tight ship you were running there,
Hillary.  The event sounds like the typical Clintonoid coverup.
Remember that Watergate started with a burglary at the offices of the
DNC.  Of course, the media likes the Clintons and did not like Nixon, do media
coverage on this will be sparing at best.

6.  Salt.  Once again, convention wisdom of the food Nazis proves to be
pure garbage.  Add salt to the list of substances previously thought to
be damaging to health that actually aren’t.  Instead it turns out that
restricting salt consumption too much leads to health problems.  Science writer
Gary Taubes, who has for years been suggesting a low carb, high
fat diet, also wrote about salt being harmless.  Turns out he was once
again correct.

not-actually-dangerous-and- cutting-it-may-be-harmful/

7.  Encyclical.  The first publication form a new Pope is generally a Big
Deal.  The first Encyclical written by Pope Francis I was co-written
with the former Pope Benedict XVI.  The Encyclical strongly supports the
traditional family, the union of one man and one woman, which should be
fighting words to the homosexual – friendly media.  Instead, the media
ignored the publication completely, perhaps choosing not to pick a fight with
the first Latin American Pope at the time they are pandering to
Hispanics via comprehensive immigration reform.  I think the Church is
going to endure and prevail.  I am not so hopeful that the left is going to be
similarly successful.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better
than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not
your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed
you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye
were our countrymen."
- Samuel Adams, speech at the Philadelphia
  State House, August 1, 1776.
