Don't bother paying the extra for Priority unless your item is 1 lb. or more.  All Priority is, is first class mail -- with a slight break on the first-class mailing rate for parcels 1 lb. and up.  If you're REALLY concerned about something, send it registered, which is tracked all the way through the system.  Delivery Confirmation and/or return receipts if you just want verification of delivery.
 
Re our current service (or lack thereof), ask any mail carrier what they think of postal management's decisions in that area... some topics: DPS, MSP's, later starting times, curtailed mail.  Re postage prices going up... how much are we all paying for bread, milk, gasoline, power, etc etc as compared to a decade ago...?  (How much are you paying for gasoline compared to three MONTHS ago??  about +40 cents/gal. here)
