A new release of EXPGUI is now available. This is a free program that
provides a graphical user interface to some (but by no means all) of the
features of GSAS. Many new users find it helps them get started with
doing GSAS and at least some experienced users find it speeds their
work.

EXPGUI runs on both Windows and Unix platforms and all source code is
distributed so that you can add your own improvements. If you use EXPGUI
and like it please send your e-mail address to me so that you hear about
future updates (and so I can document the utility of my efforts).

A number of documents about EXPGUI are available on the web, a good
place to start is

   http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/xtal/software/expgui/expgui_intro.html

As I write this, the CCP14 mirrors (http://www.ccp14.ac.uk/
http://ccp14.sims.nrc.ca and
ftp://ftp.minerals.csiro.au/pub/xtallography/ccp14/csiro/index.html) are
not up to date, but this will change soon I am sure.

Please make sure to read the installation notes for your platform
carefully before installing EXPGUI. If you have problems with
installation on Windows, please post to [EMAIL PROTECTED] since I do not
use Windows very much.

Answering mail about EXPGUI takes time away from adding new features and
other fun stuff, like what I get paid to do, so please be sure to read
the user's guide and the tutorials before contacting me with questions.
Bug reports are always welcome.

Brian
