Dear All,
I am having difficulties with energy calibration of my Braun linear PSD,
namely I would have to set the voltage near to 4000 instead of the usual
value of 3600, to have a centered energy peak. Also, the corundum peaks
I usually collect as checks show an intensity say 30% of the normal, but
their angular position are correct. I had a look at the Ar-Ch4 pressure,
but it is still near 80 bars. I suspect, as the gas was changed say a
year ago, that a decay, or a change, may be happened in the gas mixture
properties. Has somebody experienced something like that?

Dear Natale,
the fact that you need to increase the HV from 3.6 to 4.0 kV to have
well centered energy peak probably means that the wires of the PSD are
dirty. That's probably a time to do a refurbishement of the PSD. I am in
the same situation, I am currently on 4.2 kV ...
Is your energy peak asymmetric towards high energies? It is, in my
opinion, a sign that it is a time to send the PSD to Braun for the
maintenance.
(I hope your pressure is 8 and not 80 bars :-)
