As correctly pointed out by Dr Weisbecker, you are usually dealing with few
layers.
Depending on the route used to produce the sample (e.g. Hummers method),
you could have epoxy and hydroxyl groups decorating sheets and causing the
interlayer separation (associated to 00l reflections) to dramatically
increase (the amount depending on the humidity content) with respect to
"graphite value".
Then, as a fingerprint of the "two-dimensional structure" you have
asymmetric peaks corresponding to in-plane distances.
