Hi,
We're always trying to find ways to get rid of having to see the RingID (hash)
as much as possible. There are many solutions to this, for the most part its
just a matter of implementing them which takes time.

For example, there is already a partial implementation for the transmition of
profiles. That is, a user could set up their own profile (with photo, name,
etc) and choose to allow that info to be transmitted at the moment that they
contact a peer so that the peer would get all this info.

>From what I understand, there is also work being done in OpenDHT to allow
>indexation and search of data so that you would be able to get RingID(s) as
>result of a search on the network. This is another way you could find your
>friends on Ring if they chose to make their name as public info on the network
>(someone correct me if I'm wrong about this).

Of course, we still want to leave the possibility of someone simply using their
RingID as their only "identity" if they don't want to share other data for
whatever reason.

Subject: [Ring] Challenge! Getting kids to use Ring (or any software)

Hi, all.

Here's my challenge to any and all of you: Come up with suggestions and
solutions to enable a 10-year old to get in touch with their buddy on Ring!

Disclaimer : My profession is UX Designer and I love FOSS so much that it's all
we run at home. The design challenge of enabling kids to use any app or
software is a rather general one which does apply to a range of consumer grade
applications and where any improvement in usability may very likely benefit all
demographics, not just kids.

At home, Skype is the current got-to communication platform with easily
searchable friends nicks and so on. Ring is far harder, you have to somehow
bring (or Skype) the 40 character ID to your friend, you can not just tell them
your nick.

*ducks for cover*

Cheers,
Jarl Arntzen
